Media-specific artists' records between reproduction and performance

Various media-specific artists' records are discussed. The pieces question the roles of medium and user either by upholding the established paradigms of recording and reproductions, or by turning the record from a mass-produced item into an unique art object. The playing of a record may turn into an ephemeral performance, whereby the reassuring notion of repetition and accessibility is deliberately undermined.
