The group has a regional impact on the airline and aerospace industry through the training and development of researchers, conducting research and publishing its academic achievement and participation in technological projects. This training occurs through the instruction of these researchers in masters and doctoral level. Sistemas de Aplicação Orientados a Dados Dinâmicos (Dynamic Data Driven Application Systems – DDDAS) are systems of online simulation models fed by sensorial data collected from the physical environment. One of the group’s goals (Laboratório de Realidade Virtual em Rede – LRVNet) is to research and develop new algorithms, architectures, methods and techniques  in the areas of distributed simulation, wireless networks, ubiquitous computing and advanced interfaces. One of the application areas is the management of the emergency, particularly in industrial and aircraft plants. The Group (through the LRVNet – Laboratório de Realidade Virtual em Rede) collaborates with the Paradise Laboratory SITE, from the University of Ottawa, since 2003 aiming to research new protocols for wireless networks in order to monitor and control physical environments aware of context. The group also researches  the extensibility of collaborative virtual environments, through the specification of interactive non-linear stories. Students of master and doctoral level from the Paradise Laboratory and LRVNet have been working together since early 2004, resulting in the publication of several national and international articles. The group develops tangible interfaces for controlling emergency (command post) and augmented reality interfaces for training environments and emergency response ones. Algorithms for wireless sensor networks are integrated with RFIDs and unmanned aerial vehicles are being developed in partnership with the Department of Aeronautics of USP (Prof. Eduardo Morgado Belo). The group participates in the FAPESP Multiuser project (Laboratório Multiusuário de Visualização 3D Imersiva de São Carlos -Processo Num. 04/09275-3) in a partnership with the Mechanical Engineering Department from USP/SC and the Aeronautical Engineering Department of the USP/SC.

Arquitetura para Teleconferência baseada na Integração de Vídeo Avatar Estereoscópico em Ambiente Virtual Tridimensional e Aplicação de Ontologias a Plataformas Educacionais. Encontram-se presentemente em desenvolvimento os seguintes projetos: Portais Ontológicos, desenvolvimento de Jogos Eletrônicos e de Tutores Inteligentes, enJine (engine de jogo para a plataforma Java), Interlab3D (ferramenta para ensino de computação gráfica); Modelador 3D de Moléculas; Arquitetura BDI para personagens de jogos.

The InterLab – Laboratório de Tecnologias Interativas – is a laboratory of applied research, whose projects make use of new interactive technologies, such as multimedia and virtual reality, for the development of innovative solutions in any area that may be benefited by it, such as Education, Medicine or Engineering. In addition to projects that are already part of the activities of the laboratory, the InterLab develops other activities for the dissemination of knowledge and technology, such as instructional laboratories, courses and seminars. Among the works of the InterLab we can mention: a CD-ROM for the Museum of Contemporary Art of São Paulo (MAC), numerous developments in multimedia, Socioeconomic Information System for the SEADE – São Paulo, a instructional CD-ROM for teaching Electrotechnology (in cooperation with the Department of Electric Power and Automation of the Escola Politécnica – PEA), BREULER (a Geometric Modeler that uses Topological Operators of Euler), the Physics Virtual Laboratory, the 3-D Virtual Museum, a Library for the construction of Three-dimensional Virtual Environments for Multi-users, PIAGET – a Distributed Virtual Reality environment applied to collaborative learning, Algorithms for the Segmentation of Spatiotemporal Video Content, Architecture for Conference-based Integration of Stereoscopic Video Avatar in a Three Dimensional Virtual environment and the Application of Ontology targeting the Educational platforms. The following projects are currently in development: Ontological portals, the development of Electronic Games and Intelligent Tutoring, the creation of enJine (game engine for the Java platform), Interlab3D (tool for teaching computer graphics); 3D Molecules Modeler; BDI Architecture for game characters.

The group’s activities began in subprogram called SPEC/PADCT 1 and PADCT 2. In 1991, the Center for Science Education (NEC) was institutionalized in the UNIMEP. Through all these years, the group encouraged, promoted and participated in Regional, National and International Meetings in the area of ​​Science Education and Environmental Education; several scientific articles have been published in refereed journals, numerous research projects and extension involving students of Sciences from the UNIMEP and teachers from public and private schools of Piracicaba have been presented; the group participated in PROIN/CAPES program; developed and coordinated the Pro-Science Program (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) funded by FAPESP/CAPES/SE for high school; actively participated in the elaboration of pedagogical projects of Sciences for the UNIMEP courses and in the process of curriculum innovation. The group has worked side by side with the Bachelor Forum of UNIMEP. Participated in the Program for Continuing Training, know as Teia do Saber, sponsored by the Government of São Paulo. Established, between 2002-2004, a partnership with the Municipal Section of Education for the implementation of the project denominated Mão na Massa in 4 schools. Participated in the preparation of a project to establish a Museum of Science and Technology in Piracicaba, in partnership with the Municipality. Implemented the “Center for Scientific-Technological Education” approved by CNPq in Dec 2003 project that enabled the creation of a new line of research in the area of ​​virtual reality. The group participated in the project  “Núcleos de formação compartilhada universidade-escola de educação básica de nível médio” with support from FINEP (between 2005-2008) which had as one of its objectives the installation of a science lab in a suburb high school. In March 2010 the group received the approval from FAPESP for the the realization of the project “A MEDIAÇÃO COMO TAREFA DO PROFESSOR: INVESTIGANDO AS CONCEPÇÕES DE MEDIAÇÃO E AS PRÁTICAS DE DOCENTES DO ENSINO FUNDAMENTAL E MÉDIO”. process 09/54874-6

The GP focuses on: a) investigate, analyze and reflect about the paradigms used in interaction design for men, objects, spaces, environments and systems; b) to explore the technological, cultural and cognitive implications involved in the design of information systems and interaction in multiple materials and environments; c) research the latest production in the Art-Design-Technology and MidiaArt interface; d) develop methodologies for interaction design projects and its innovative applications; e) design and develop interfaces and interactive environments f) software, hardware and system projects;

From virtual to augmented and mixed reality environments; from cybrid  modalities to the ubiquitous computing; from representations to the emulations and simulations, we can find a broad spectrum that contemplates games, websites, interactive art and installations, and that challenge and redirect the term reality. In an era that is characterized by an increasing complexity, we question how to coherently tackle the systems that give us access to the ‘semiotically real’ (cf. Jorge Vieira Albuquerque) that, at least for now, will be referred to as ‘reality’. This research group aims to periodically: 1. Make publications possible and/ or facilitate meetings and seminars on the topic under the art perspective; 2. Compile a significant number of documents and create a collection on subject, intending to contribute and support the development of several Master dissertations and Doctorate theses; 3. Produce primary research sources (interviews and testimonies of artists and those who are part of of the artistic and cultural milieu, whose trajectories are relevant to the art and technology studies and that serve to justify mixed realities issues), which will be released on the Internet or made available for the academic community under any other format that grants free access to these researches; 4. Invite researchers, professors and art specialized in art and science issues to participate and occasionally join the group depending of the specific area being studied; 5. Apresentar à comunidade os resultados parciais e finais das pesquisas desenvolvidas por este Grupo, no intuito de criar instrumento de avaliação continuada de seus resultados. Present the partial and final results of these researches undertaken by this group to the community, in order to create a tool for continuous evaluation of their results.

O grupo de pesquisa em Sistemas Computacionais Aplicados (SCA) foi criado em 2010. Este atua junto ao COMPSI – Computing and Information Systems Research Lab do UNIVEM. Este grupo contempla a produção científica dos docentes, alunos de iniciação científica e de pós-graduação dos cursos da área de informática do UNIVEM.

The research group in Applied Computing Systems (SCA) was created in 2010. It works side by side with the COMPSI – Computing and Information Systems Research Lab of UNIVEM. This group embodies the scientific production of the faculty, undergraduate and graduate students that are part of the informatics area of UNIVEM.
