| Rui Chaves é um artista sonoro, performer e pesquisador. Graduou-se em Som e Imagem pela Escola Superior de Artes e Design Caldas da Rainha (Portugal), tendo depois efectuado um mestrado no Sonic Arts Research Centre (Reino Unido). Na mesma instituição fez um doutoramento com a tese "Performing sound in place: field recording, mobile transmission and walking". Pós-doutorado no NuSom, com um projeto de pesquisa foca na criação de um arquivo dedicado à produção de arte sonora no Brasil. | Rui Chaves is a Portuguese sound artist, performer and researcher. His research and work foregrounds a discussion of presence — both physical and authorial — in the process of making sound art: an endeavour that is informed by a contemporary critical inquiry and exploration of the thematics of body, place, text and technology. He holds a PhD in music from Queen’s University Belfast. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at NuSom with a research project focusing on creating an online ‘archive’ of Brazilian sound art. |
| Pesquisa e Arte Projeto atual de pesquisa: A minha pesquisa visa estabelecer uma reflexão acerca da prática de arte sonora brasileira e a sua relação com o quotidiano político, sonoro, social e urbano. Esta reflexão é desenvolvida através de duas iniciativas: 1) criação de uma plataforma online; 2) edição e escrita de um livro dedicado ao tema. |
Research and Art Current research project: My research envisages the development of a reflection regarding the practice of Brazilian sound art and its relationship with the everyday in its political, social, sonic and urban context. This reflection is developed through two initiatives: 1) creation of an online platform; 2) editing and writing of a volume dedicated to the aforementioned theme. |
