Abstract: In this talk I will present an overview of the ongoing collaborative research between the Computer Science and the Music departments at the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil. This overview includes the research teams, joint projects, the creation of the Sonology Research Center at USP, and current research, highlighting both technical and artistic contributions. Last and definitely not least, we will talk about international cooperation and plans for future collaborations.

Short CV: Marcelo Queiroz is Associate Professor of the Computer Science Department and vice-coordinator of the Sonology Research Center at the University of São Paulo. His background includes a BSc in Computer Science, a BA in Music Composition, an MSc in Applied Mathematics, and PhD and Habilitation degrees in Computer Science. His research interests include sound/music/speech processing, computational acoustics, network and mobile music, and more generally technology-mediated music analysis/composition/performance/improvisation.
