Interdisciplinary Interfaces

Sonology is an interdisciplinary discipline. This research line shall build an environment for the integration between specific disciplines related to Sonology and other areas of academic and artistic investigation. More specifically, we shall identify disciplines that enable the exploration of sociocultural, cognitive, historical and technological aspects of artistic creation. The interface with diversified areas gives room to the integration of complementary views to those already connected to Sonology. We shall emphasize (although not limit ourselves to) two aspects:

1. Experimentation and creation: experimental practices are the foundation upon which NapSom is built. We emphasize experimentation in different art forms and technological environments. More specifically, we shall work on the idea of distributed creativity, in which the process of creation can occur in distributed fashion, thus connecting individuals through a network. This way we change the traditional focus on artistic objects, towards focus on interaction processes.

2. Conectivity and engagement: novel forms of relationship between art and the public, exploring contexts which range from the diversification of spaces destined to artistic production (urban interventions, internet productions, happenings) to new forms of public engagement with art creations. In this context, we shall explore issues related to distributed authorship, community oriented actions and social inclusion.
