Sonology

Sonology, in the present project, encompasses reflective work on interactive processes related to musical production, and it shall focus on theoretical and conceptual foundations for the project as a whole. It is connected to musicological production, aiming at the integration with artistic creation and technological development which are also part of the project. The following approaches shall be considered:

1. interactive processes: reflections on issues related to musical production, accounting for descriptive, historical, aesthetic and analytical issues.

2. gestures: study of gestures and how they relate to musical performance, accounting for issues such as gesture mapping, gesture typology and gesture-based man-machine communication.

3. analytical processes: analysis of specific repertoires to be identified by the research team.

4. sound production: conceptual and theoretical issues related to contemporary musical production, in connection with the general notion of interaction, emphasizing conceptual and aesthetic issues, as well as issues of technological and linguistic convergence.
